Candle Care Instructions

Proper candle care is essential for maximizing the lifespan and performance of your candles. Following these guidelines will ensure that you enjoy the full benefits of your candle's fragrance and aesthetic appeal.

Firstly, it is important to trim the wick before each use. A wick length of approximately 1/4 inch is optimal. This practice minimizes soot production and promotes an even burn. Studies indicate that wicks that are too long can lead to excessive flickering and increased soot emissions, which can affect indoor air quality.

When lighting your candle, allow it to burn long enough for the wax to melt evenly across the surface. This typically takes about 1 hour for every inch in diameter of the candle. An even melt pool prevents tunneling, which occurs when the wax burns down the center, leaving unused wax along the edges. Tunneling can reduce the candle's overall burn time by as much as 50%.

It is advisable to extinguish the candle using a candle snuffer rather than blowing it out. Blowing can cause wax splatter and may lead to a larger flame than desired, which can be hazardous. Using a snuffer allows for a controlled extinguishing process, minimizing smoke and preserving the fragrance.

After extinguishing the candle, allow it to cool completely before handling. This practice not only ensures safety but also allows the wax to solidify properly, maintaining the candle's shape and integrity for future use.

Storage is another critical aspect of candle care. Candles should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Exposure to heat and light can cause the fragrance to dissipate and the wax to discolor. Ideally, candles should be stored at temperatures below 75°F (24°C) to maintain their quality.

Finally, it is essential to monitor the burn time of your candle. Most candles have a recommended burn time, typically ranging from 3 to 4 hours per session. Burning a candle for longer periods can lead to overheating and may compromise the integrity of the candle, potentially resulting in a hazardous situation.  If you are burning our tin candles, turn the lid over and sit the candle on the lid to protect any surfaces.

By adhering to these candle care instructions, users can enhance their candle experience, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and fragrant atmosphere in their living spaces.
